Playing and performing with other students is an important part of learning to play an instrument. Tarleton band has three ensembles, which consists of a Senior band which is made up of players from age 11 and upwards, which are all approximatley grade 5 and above. Although the band has many young members it is mainly made up of older more experienced players.
The Beginners band is made up of players from the age of 7. This ensemble is suited to new starters and people who have just completed their wider opportunities scheme at school.
The Intermediate band is made up of players from the age of 7 to 18. This ensemble is ideally suited to players who are grade 2 and above. It is also a feeder band for the Senior Band. We take part in Concerts and festivals.

New Trombone Club
Having secured a grant from the Villages in Partnership, we are now launching our new Trombone Club. It is aimed at those who are complete beginners or at an early stage of learning. The Trombone is a very interesting instrument to learn, offering opportunities to play in various styles, from Brass bands to Big Bands and Orchestras. This is a great opportunity for anybody who has an interest in music. Instruments will be provided free of charge as will the tuition. The Trombone Club will begin on Thursday the 15th March at 5.15pm at the Bandroom which is located at the Cricket Pavilion on Carr Lane, Tarleton.
